Bismarck Attorney New State Labor Commissioner

A Bismarck attorney is the new Labor Commissioner for North Dakota.

Governor Jack Dalrymple appointed Bonnie Storbakken to the position.

The labor department has 12 staff members and is charged with establishing and enforcing rules relating to the wages and working conditions of North Dakota employees.

Storbakken has specialized in several areas of law and has provided mediation services to help parties resolve conflicts outside the courts.

She replaces Tony Weiler, who has served as Labor Commissioner since 2010.

Weiler has accepted the position of executive director of the State Bar Association.
