Business Beat 5/16

Northwest Tire has called Minot home for more than two decades...and now that home is growing. This location right next to the current Northwest Tire will more than double the footprint of the business. Tim Axtman is the general manager of the current location. He says the plan is to continue operation here, and spread out into the new facility as well. 4 to 6 new employees will be added completing a big upgrade for Northwest Tire.

(Tim Axtman - Northwest Tire General Manager) "The new building is all strictly passenger and light truck. They will gain two bays from what we have now. The current building that we are in will gain about three and a half bays for the commercial and ag side. We are just kind of running out of space to work."

This will fix that...and the staff will have some new tools to use which will mean a better experience for customers.

(Tim Axtman - Northwest Tire General Manager) "We are getting some of the state-of-the-art equipment coming in. If you want to stay in the business you have to compete. It is either get in it...or get out."

This move is no doubt a big -- get in. Axtman says the plan is to have the new building opened up by July 1st.

In Williston First International Bank and Trust has opened a third location...and it is large and impressive. First International is celebrating 103 three years in the state in 2013...and this newest location is at the intersection of 9th Ave. South and West Dakota Parkway. All the normal bank functions can be found here but they have added a new mineral and land services department as well...a need in the heart of the Bakken.

With Business Beat, I'm Perry Olson.
