Gas prices are on the rise and they have been shooting up quickly across North Dakota this week.
Today several gas stations around Minot were bumping up the price of a gallon of unleaded gasoline to four dollars and nine cents or higher.
That's a 42 cent jump since the first of May.
Minot isn't alone though, Bismarck is seeing even sharper increases with prices there averaging 4.24 for a gallon of unleaded.
Gene LaDoucer with Triple-A in North Dakota says there is an "ever-growing" list of refineries shut down are in Illinois, Oklahoma, Kansas, Indiana, Wyoming and Minnesota.
Ladoucer says the spike should be temporary.
But he says the outages will lead to record high gas prices.
