Emergency Preparedness in Church

Posted: Updated:

Firefighters, police and chaplains respond to a church Sunday morning to educate a congregation about emergency preparedness.

It's not everyday you see a Bismarck fire truck parked outside of a church on Sunday morning.

But along with the service, Prairie Family Church Pastor Greg Carr wanted to go over his church's emergency preparedness plan.

He says he wants worshippers to feel like they're protected at church.

Members of the fire department and police department talked about having a plan--in case of a fire, tornado or a shooting.

Pastor Carr has been here for four years, and says recent events around the country led him to want this plan as part of their service.

He says other churches should also get on board.

"I hope that other churches would catch on to that, and they would be prepared as well, because the last thing that we would want to happen in this community is a tragedy anywhere, let alone a church a school, wherever it may be, we want to be ready, so that is our desire." says Greg Carr, Lead Pastor.

Carr says people are allowed to carry in their church if gun-holders have a state one license, and if they clear it with the pastor first.

If you'd like more information about their church preparedness plan--you should call Pastor Greg Carr at (701) 250-6759.
