Posted: Updated:

A year of sharpening pencils, reading books, and doing homework has come to an end.

Today was the last day of school, and it was filled with excitement and sorrow for many students at Sunny Side Elementary, as they ended this year with a school wide assembly.

Many of the students have big plans in store for the summer, while others are sorry to see school end.

(Mordan Mardikian, Kindergarten) "Maybe when my sister is coming back, I think we're going to the fair together. (Reporter: Are you excited for that?) Yeah."

(Malik Jones, 3rd Grade) "I'm going to Mississippi with my sister and going fishing. Then I am coming back here for the fair."

(Keely Gifford, 2nd Grade) "I;m going to be in the Minot State Summer Theater Musical Shrek. (Reporter: Oh Really? What are you playing?) "I'm going to be child Fiona."

(Trayton Wolff, 4th Grade) "I'm going to be going camping and fishing this summer. I am really excited to do that because the school year has been really long."

(Ben Hornaday, 2nd Grade) "(Reporter: Are you glad schools over?) (Student nods his head.) (Reporter:Can't wait to back next year right?) (Student nods his head)

(Annie Carlson, 4th Grade) "I get to go tubing with my Aunt Kathy, I get to drive the jet ski, and I get to go fishing with my dad."

(Aiden Morelli, 4th Grade) "We're going on a vacation to Arizona, I'm playing baseball and we go to the lake every weekend."

(Andre Bowens, 2nd Grade) "(Are you excited school is over?) Not really. (Why not?) Because I like school and it is really fun to have friends and play with them at recess."

(Madison Engle, 3rd Grade) "(Are you excited school is over?) No. (How come?) Because I am going to miss my teacher."
