Brightening Bike Lanes

Posted: Updated:

Watch out for the trucks who are watching out for the bikes.

Over the next several days, crews are freshening up City bike lanes.  Winter snow plows take a toll on markings, so workers are taking advantage of the good weather to lay down lanes and stenciling.  Other than brightening faded paint, not much else changes over last year's markings -- with one exception:

"One thing we changed, when you come to a signalized intersection or a stop, four-way stop intersection, we put hash-tag skips, and that'll let the bikes and the traffic know that bike route does not, the lanes do not go through the intersection, so they need to watch out for one another, as they merge into the intersection," says Keith Glass, City of Bismarck, Supervisor, Street Department.
