Famous Grand Forks Columnist Visits With Other Writers

Bloggers and writers get the chance to have dinner with a nationally known newspaper columnist who gained all her fame from writing for a North Dakota newspaper.

Marilyn Haggerty is known for her famous column written about Grand Fork's Olive Garden.

More than a year ago her column went viral, and tonight she's telling other writers about her experience.

Around a dozen people are stopping at three different restaurants with Haggerty in downtown Bismarck to sample their food.

Haggerty says it's fitting since she writes a weekly column on a different restaurant in the Grand Forks area.

She describes her adventure the past year a "wild dream."

"The day that I went viral I said I don't have time for this that I had to go and play Bridge and when I came home from Bridge I had 18 telephone calls and about 200 messages on my computer," Marilyn Haggerty said.

Haggerty is 87 years old and still writes five columns a week for the Grand Forks Herald.
