Welcome Home For Korean and Vietnam Veterans

Posted:

This weekend Vietnam and Korean War veterans are being honored for their service at a special welcome home ceremony in Bismarck.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the end of the Korean War and the 40th anniversary to the end of the Vietnam War .

The Noth Dakota Patriot Guard is seen all over the state welcoming and sending off soldiers who are currently seving in the Global War on Terror.

But this weekend the Patriot Guard wants to give Korean and Vietnam Veterans a welcome home ceremony of their own.

"The Korean Veterans that war is the forgotten war and we look at the Vietnam war as the one we want to forget and now it's time to bring that out of the closet, the Veterans that served, served honorably and we need to seperate that from the war and acknowledge their service and commitment to their country," James Avard said.

The welcome home ceremony is being held tomorrow at the Civic Center at 11 a.m.

The event is free of charge and everyone is invited to come.

If you want to go and haven't registered yet you can register at ndpg.org or you can register tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. before the ceremony begins.
