Hope Village expects to host 125 volunteers a week through the month of June.
The volunteers STAYING at Hope Village are from around the nation but volunteer coordinator Miriam Smette says that's not to discount the number of local volunteers continuing support.
Two meals a day are provided at Hope Village for volunteers.
While a recent fundraiser through Taco Johns allowed Hope Village to hire a full time chef, kitchen clean up volunteers are needed.
Smette says the meals are great hours for someone looking to volunteer around a work schedule.
(Miriam Smette, RSVP+ Program Director) "They really can sign up for as much as they like or as little as they need to. A lot of volunteers are signing up for one day, just going over one time. A few of them have said to me, 'I'm going to go over and try it out one time and if I like it, I'm going to bring my family and my kids can help me do it.'"
RSVP-Plus --partners with more than 80 non-profit groups in the area.
Summer volunteer opportunities include the zoo, reading with children, summer school activities or foster grandparent events.
Smette adds that volunteering doesn't always mean having to leave your home.
