Radio-Controlled Airplanes Take Flight

Posted: Updated:

Being out in the sunshine can make you feel like you're flying high, but one group of hobbyists takes that to a whole new level.

This is the "Fun Fly" event at the Hoge Island boat ramp area.

Bismarck Aircraft Modelers members and spectators get to see what flying radio-controlled airplanes is all about.

Paul has been flying for around 23 years after his brother got him into it.

He enjoys teaching others about the sport, and although he says he has crashed several planes over the years--it's a hobby that he'll always come back to.

"Personally it's just the satisfaction of helping people and seeing people out here and being able to do stuff as a family and everybody, that to me is the satisfaction of the whole event." says Paul Pennington, club organizer.

This is the tenth year for the Bismarck Aircraft Modelers Club.

They will have another fun fly event in August.
