It was a great day for a run in the park... it was an even better day to run in the park for a cause.
Dozens met in Oak Park this morning to Run for Reiney.
Reiney was a high school student who died in a tragic car accident in 2009.
Since then, the event has been done in her honor.
The day includes a 5k run, a silent auction, food and a concert.
Proceeds from the event are going to the --"One Fund"-- which is a foundation for the Boston Bombing victims.
The coordinator of the event is surprised year after year with the support the event gets and feels a sense of pride knowing she did something good in honor of her friend.
(Shelby Gantzer, Coordinator/Founder) "It's really unreal. I did not think I would be able to do all of this. When I see everybody I just smile because I know Reiney would live to be here and would love to run with all of these people. It's really heart warming."
Gantzer Gan-ser says the event would have happened rain or shine because one of Reiney's favorite activities was running in the rain.
