New Ice Cream Flavors in the Freezer

Posted: Updated:

Land O' Lakes Ice Cream has a new name.

Deans, Country Fresh and Land O' Lakes are now being sold as Dean's Country Fresh Ice Cream and Novelties.
The new line-up includes better for you products.
The company recently made the decision to only buy cream from farmers who do not to treat their cows with artificial growth hormones.
New flavors like German Chocolate Cake and Caramel Toffee Crunch are just a few to choose from.

(Pat Graiziger / Deans Foods General Manager) "We consolidated the brand into one brand, Dean's Country Fresh, which allows us to do some things, innovate new products and items and flavors. Part of it was our milk plants currently are receiving rbgh free milk so when we separate the product for our milk products we have cream. So as a dairy that has milk and ice cream we are able to do this."

The FDA has found no significant difference between milk from RBST-treated cows and milk from cows that are not treated with the hormone.
But Graizinger (-zinger) says their consumers prefer it.

(Pat Graiziger / Deans Foods General Manager) "45% of them said it was really important to them as a consumer looking for ice cream products that are non-growth hormone free or rbgh free, another 40% said it was somewhat important. Almost 80% of the people said this was important to them."

The ice cream products will be introduced throughout the summer to grocery stores throughout the Upper Midwest.
