ND Oil Production Steady in April

Bismarck, ND -

The number of wells waiting to be fracked in North Dakota sits at nearly 500.

Oil officials say bad weather and load restrictions this winter and spring are factors in the back up.

The state set another record in April for oil production despite the hold up for wells to be completed.

Director of Mineral Resources, Lynn Helms, says as long as 90 wells are completed a month, production will grow...

"We put almost a 120 wells on so we had 10,000 barrel a day growth. It gives you some idea of what in the summer months and we bring the 500 wells down to 150 or 200 what kind of flows we will see," says Helms.

Helms says he does expect a big surge in production this summer.

He predicts May oil production will hit 800,000 barrels of oil a day.
