Rice Lake Meeting

Rice Lake Meeting

Posted: Updated:

Major topic of discussion was the flooding of the lake and how it should be handled.

Rice Lake saw severe flooding last month because of the unexpected rainfall throughout the month of May.

Many homes were damaged in the flood, now members of the community want to put a plan in place to make sure this does not happen again.

(Linda Anderson, Secretary, Rice Lake Board) "We have a solution and that's to put a pipeline underground that would pump water from here to Douglas creek, all the way to Lake Sakakawea. "

(Steve Zaun, Chairman, Rice Lake Board) "For us it's all about finding a way to again protect our system, protect our roads, all the infrastructure down here and find a way to get this water under control... obviously there has been some concerns from the pipeline project, we are doing our best to work through that, it's all we can do."
