Crane Strikes Transmission Line Knocking out Power in Bismarck

A lunchtime power outage affects 5200 customers and businesses in northwest Bismarck.

An MDU spokesperson says a small crane on Twin City Drive in Mandan struck a transmission line.

That tripped two substations that serve north Bismarck.

The approximate area of the outage was north of Divide Avenue and west of Highway 83.

The outage happened around 11:45 and lasted about fifty minutes.
