The person who died in a canoeing accident at Lake Metigoshe this weekend was an airman from the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base.
Base officials said today said 29 year old Tech. Sgt. Jason Mower drowned.
Mower and another airman, 21 year old Daniel Shoemaker were in a canoe that overturned Saturday evening near Lake Metigoshe State Park.
Showmaker resurfaced and was rescued by boaters.
However, Mower did not resurface and his body was not recovered until Sunday morning.
Dive-rescue teams, the North Dakota Game and Fish Department, and the Bottineau County Sheriff's office were involved in the search.
The lake was choppy due to high winds at the time of the accident, and the sheriff's office reports the men were not wearing life vests.
