Posted: Updated:

Online college programs are known for their convenience and flexibility.

Bismarck State College made the national ranks for a program it offers.

U.S. News and World Report evaluated several factors to rank the best online bachelor's degree programs.

Over 900 institutions applied.

Among them, 25 percent met the requirements.

BSC is number 14 out of the top 15.

BSC offers a bachelors of applied science and energy management degree.

"We started this program in 2008 and we've come a long way since then you know just as far as curriculum design, you know course design, making sure the instructors are in their courses a couple times a day, good faculty training, good mentorship, you know and strong student support services, you know, financial aid," says Bruce Emmil, Associate Vice President, National Energy Center of Excellence.

Colleges were scored on student engagement, faculty credentials and training, and student services and technology.
