The City of Mandan took steps tonight to stop the bleeding -- when it comes to losing their employees to higher paying jobs across the River.
Beginning July 1st, adjustments will be made so that minimum and maximum pay for each position is 95% of what Bismarck pays. Officials say this will impact different employees differently, since some Mandan positions are already at the 95% mark. Those employees won't see a raise.
For others, they may see increases of up to 5% each year until the 95% benchmark is reached. Positions and pay will be reviewed annually. The City Commission also agreed to up the City's retirement contribution.
Some Commissioners expressed concern the changes may not be enough to catch up and stay there. However, all seemed to agree, it's a good start.
