Social Connection: Connecting Kids With Their Community

Posted:

Kids get the opportunity to play with their food.

This month a new program called "Social Connection," is giving kids the chance to get involved with their community and spend time outdoors.

This week's theme is growing green thumbs.

Earlier this week, kids spent time at the hunger free gardens and today they're making their own food and having fun with it.

"The goal of this program is to just really connect kids together in a small group and provide those social opportunities and also to connect them with their community so we rarely are indoors, we are outdoors a lot which is very beneficial for the kids," Heidi Demars said.

"It's really fun, the teachers are really nice and we get to do a lot of fun stuff, like just yesterday we went to the hunger garden and we planted plants for hungry people and played at the park and did some races and yard activities and stuff," Kaden Burgard said.

"It was awesome and I liked making that creation it was so fun," Tawnie Trauger said.

Next week kids will be at the Children's library, writing their own book.
