Work on Home Depot in south Minot at the old KXMC location is ongoing...and so too are sales for the big box retailer!

(Jason Barker - Store Manager) "People have been surprised thinking this is the construction trailer for the big site and it is not. We are open for sales. We can do online, or special order, or get products from Fargo in here."

Barker says most products can be delivered here by the next business day...even if purchases aren't made until five in the evening the day before. The hope is to get a foot in the door in the market...and what a busy market it is. This Home Depot that is being constructed will be as big as they come...with an outdoor lumberyard which is rare for Home Depot.

(Jason Barker - Store Manager) "We wanted to go ahead and open up and be able to get into the market a little sooner. That is the reason why we went with the small store, the trailer for right now."

The plan is to be here until about January, when the full store should be ready to go...weather permitting of course.

Right across the street from Home Depot, a change in name is coming to the Astoria Hotel -- though it has only been open a few months, it will soon change to a Four Points by Sheraton. Expect that change later this summer. With Business Beat, I'm Perry Olson.
