Several people are dead following a fiery crash this morning just east of Stanley at a busy intersection.
Authorities say dense fog was blanketing the area and played a big part in the crash which involved numerous vehicles.
Shaun Sipma has the latest details on the accident.
Three men were killed this morning in a fiery crash three miles east of Stanley involving a tank trailer loaded with crude oil and five and other vehicles.
(Ken Halvorson, Mountrail County Sheriff) "It initially started that we had a oil tanker, oil field tanker that was going to the North and got clipped by a vehicle that was going to the west here on Highway 2 and that began the pile-up."
The HIghway patrol say the accident happened at 6:40.
Authorities say the tanker trailer exploded and the vehicle burned for about five hours on highway 2.
(Ken Halvorson, Mountrail County Sheriff) "We have some multiple fatalities."
Authorities are reported that a 26 year old pickup truck driver from Wahpeton, a 23 year old male passenger in that truck and a 41 year old Minot man who was driving a second pickup truck were killed.
Their names have not been released yet.
The drivers of the rig pulling the tanker, a third pickup and a vac truck were injured..
Authorities are continuing to investigate and will release more details as they become available.

Highway 2 westbound lane is closed at Palermo and traffic is being re-routed until the accident has been cleaned up.
The eastbound lane has been reopened.
