Lowe's 84th Anniversary

Lowe's 84th Anniversary

Posted: Updated:

What does it take to keep Minot and the surrounding area beautiful for 84 years?

Sunlight, water, and a little bit of nurturing.. and that's what has made Lowe's Garden Center a successful business for all this time.

Lowe's was started in 1929 as a family business, just to grow and sell vegetables.

Phil Lowe took over for his grandfather in 1973, and the business is still going strong.

Today, Lowe's ranges from trees, to flowers, to gardening tools and decorations.

This weekend, to celebrate 84 years, Lowe's had door prizes, special prices on the plants, and even hot dogs and pop for 84 cents.

Phil says that seeing the public come out to celebrate the business that he has been involved in since he was a child, makes all the work that goes into Lowe's, worth it.

(Phil Lowe, General Manager of Lowe's) "It's a great business because we've got great employees, we've got a great product that sells itself because of all this beauty. We've got great customers. So it's really kind of the best of all worlds. You know, we've enjoyed all our years here, and hopefully we have 84 more."

Lowe's Garden Center will be open the rest of the summer, and delivers to Minot and the surrounding areas.
