CMV Safety Inspection Results

Posted: Updated:

The first week in June, the North Dakota Highway Patrol joined over 10,000 inspectors to participate in Roadcheck 2013.

This program performs commercial motor vehicle safety inspections.

This year, the goal was to involve as many troopers and inspectors as possible.

Teams of inspectors were placed at inspection sites in nearly a dozen locations across the state.

Over 500 violations out of 690 inspections were found.

Safety and Education Officer Tom Iverson says the next step is to give these results out to the public.

"That's a large amount of violations in these vehicles. A lot of them are more critical than others, but even still that's something we would like to see are no violations definitely because it's done for the safety of everybody out there, for the betterment of all the motorists operating on the road," says Tom Iverson, Safety and Education Officer, ND Highway Patrol.

Some of the inspections include making sure they have proper endorsements on their license and making sure the equipment on trucks and trailers is in order.
