Blood Needed

Posted: Updated:

We're all busy traveling and having a good time with family and friends in the summer, so oftentimes we forget about people who continue to need blood donations during these months.

To promote blood donation into the summer, United Blood Services in Minot will be hosting "Blood Drive for Chickens."

The idea is to get those who are hesitant about donating to come out and give it a try.

Jennifer Charbonneaux says there are many myths about the qualifications to donate, most of which are wrong.

Some of these include blood pressure, medications, a history of disease or even tattoos and piercings.

She also says that whether you have given blood before or not, now is the time to get out and give it a try.

(Jennifer Charbonneaux, Center Manager, United Blood) "The summer months are always really difficult for us because people are busy, and because they are busy they're taking vacations and anytime throughout the summer, you know, it's a great time to come down and see us and see what we're all about."

The "Blood Drive for Chickens" will be held this Friday, July 5th from 8 - 4.

Chicken wings and other snacks will be served.
