Around Town -- July 5, 2013

New Jersey, a bookmobile and love of history -- how are they related?  Each led to a new business in this week's Around Town.

"How you guys doing today."  A New Jersey transplant brings his love of Italian food all the way to Bismarck.  Steven Nardello, owner of Nardello's, is not only Italian himself, his approach to food is authentic too.  From pizzas and hoagies to stromboli and salads, his ingredients come from back East and everything is made fresh daily.

Mandan Fire Chief Steve Nardello is temporarily helping son Steven get his new business off the ground.  But from the looks of things, Bismarck's newest Italian eatery is already off to a busy start.  Nardello's is located in Pinehurst Plaza.

From book mobile to boutique, a North Dakotan turned California girl is back with her unique approach to apparel -- KooKoo's Nest.  She got the idea for mobile clothing while working in Los Angeles, then saw it through when she found a bookmobile for sale.

Since there's only a small space to fill, everything is unique, one per size.  "And they're all statement pieces, so I dare anybody to wear any of this stuff out to Peacock Alley, because I guarantee they'll get a compliment," says Kinzey Whitty, Owner, KooKoo's Nest.

Kinzey also does private parties and will fill the boutique with pieces to suit your guests.  To find out where she'll be next, find her first on Facebook by searching for KooKoo's Nest.

A family's love of history brings a store to life that's part gun shop and part museum.  Shooters buys, sells and trades military memorabilia, firearms -- and more.  There's even a wooly mammoth tooth here.  And everything's for sale -- including the big bear rug.

The shop specializes in collectible guns, and will be carrying new pieces, as well.  They also have two gunsmiths on site and can execute legal gun transfers.  They're open seven days a week across the street from Sam's Club on Bismarck Expressway.
