Minot's train depot will soon be ready to be proclaimed officially rebuilt -- thanks to a shot in the arm financially from the Minot Area Community Foundation.
The outside of the depot has been rebuilt following the Mouse River Flood of 2011...but a look inside shows that not everything was back in place.
Missing was the old-style wood benches you'd find in a train station years ago.
That is the look Minot wanted here...and now a 30 thousand dollar grant from MACF is making that happen.
(Dayna Moerkerke - City of Minot Engineering Technician) "The Amtrak station was just restored right before the flood so of course it had to be restored again after the flood and unfortunately that didn't include the seating inside so they were left with the plastic seating. We wanted to bring back the original wood benches that were here and that is what we did with this grant."
The 30 thousand dollars will cover the cost of 15 benches that are being built out of state...but will soon arrive in Minot for sanding and finishing before they are put in place.
Moerkerke More-Ker-Key hopes that happens by the end of July.
