Lex Luther Looking for a Home

Posted: Updated:

One family in Bismarck is taking on the responsibility of being a foster home....for dogs.

Stephanie Scheurer introduces us to a special young pup.

(Nat: "Good boy...")

Meet Lex Luther.

Although his tough appearance matches his name, he is far from being a super villain.

"He is just a sweet dog. He's very loyal and loving. He wants to cuddle with you. I always tease him, it doesn't fit his macho appearance you know that he's such kind of a big baby. He wants to be in between you on the couch, in between you in bed. He likes to be petted a lot. He's young, very puppyish and playful still so we're working on some commands," says Laura Kahn.

(Nat: "Can you sit?")

Laura has been fostering dogs through 4 Luv of Dog Rescue in Fargo since the spring of 2009.

"So I went from my one dog to all of a sudden having four in my home so I took on three foster dogs. And we just really haven't stopped since," says Kahn.

4 Luv of Dog is a volunteer run, non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing dogs and finding them a new home.

Lex Luther is a two year old pit bull terrier that Laura rescued two months ago.

For now, this guy has his two sidekicks Chester and Harlie to keep him company.

(Nat: "Is that your brother and sister?")

"We treat them just like our own. Of course you fall in love with them and you get attached. But it really helps getting to see their adoptive homes and getting to know the families. And with facebook and email it's so easy to stay in touch and keep tabs on how the dog is doing, you know if that's something that they'd like to do. And just knowing, I guess, that the greater need is if we're able to get one adopted we can help save another one," says Kahn.

Being foster parents for dogs is something that Laura wants to continue doing for years to come.

And even though she's grown quite attached to this handsome guy, she hopes that he will soon find his new special partner in crime, or in this case, love.
