Record Number of Fishing Licenses Sold

Posted:

More people are fishing in North Dakota.

Last year a record number of resident and non resident fishing licenses were sold in the state.

Greg Power with the North Dakota Game and Fish says combined about 218,000 licenses were sold last year.

The previous record for resident sales was set back in 1982.

Power credits mother nature for the increase in fisherman in the state.

"There for a while especially in the late 90's it didn't look so good you know, but what's happened in North Dakota since 1993 actually is we've had a lot of rain and we have a record number of fishing lakes in the state and people are taking advantage of it now," Greg Power said.

Power says there also was a record number of boating licenses sold last year.
