The Roosevelt Park Zoo is one step closer to getting back to what it once was, with the official re-opening of the Discovery Barn.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the occasion.
Thanks to a large contribution from philanthropic group Power of the Purse, the barn was able to re-open its doors.
Many smaller animals like hedgehogs, rabbits, tarantulas and some reptiles will be on display.
The building will now be able to house animals year round, something which the old discover barn could not do.
Zoo director, Dave Merritt, knows most people come to the zoo to see the larger animals, but believes the Discovery Barn brings a part of the zoo which was missing.
(David Merritt, Zoo Director) "People do like, they love to come here and see a big tall giraffe, but they also like to look in a little window and see a snake or a little lizard or a small mammal as well. So it fills that niche."
