Kids have a Blast at Annual Rocket Day

Posted: Updated:

Whether it's your favorite school subject or not--it's been proven that science can be a blast!

Gateway to Science plays host to the 11th Annual Family Rocket Day.

Every year, young people get to see how a rocket works--and hopefully get excited about science.

Kids get to try their hand at discovery stations--and learn how to launch the rockets from some experts.

Overall, organizers say kids get a hands on taste of science that they may not always get in the classroom.

(Nat rocket) "They love watching their rockets go off. It kind of becomes a competition of who can get theirs the highest and so once we get one off in the air I think once we get our engines off I think more kids will want to get those and watch. Especially our water rockets, they're really popular because water goes everywhere and that's what kids like to see," says Arlene Wolf, Special Events Coordinator.

Along with water rockets, and engine propelled rockets, the kids also got to shoot off alka-seltzer rockets.
