First Lady Recognizes Student Success

Posted: Updated:

They are some of the brightest young minds around...and they have the hardware and project to prove it.

Wednesday, First Lady Betsy Dalrymple was on hand in Minot to recognize this group of high school students from Minot High for their efforts competing in what's called the 'Real World Design Challenge'.

Their design?

A drone that was mounted with cameras giving would-be searchers a tool trying to locate a lost child.

Dylan Morris was one team member.

He says they built plans for the entire project...not just the drone either.

(Dylan Morris - Minot High Senior) "It definitely fits with the times because we are all going toward remote controlled airplanes and drones. We actually had to build a business plan showing how much we would charge and sell it and that kind of stuff."

The group was the North Dakota champion, and also competed in the national event in Washington, DC.
