The 2013 State Fair was a record breaker -- about ten thousand more people than last year walked through the gates making 2013 the new benchmark.
Yet even before the first person came through the gate, work on the 2014 North Dakota State Fair was already underway.
What draws the big crowds?
Entertainment -- more specifically, big name entertainers.
This year the top concerts at the grandstand were Tim McGraw and Toby Keith -- and the job of landing talent like that again next year has already started.
Renae Korslien, the fair manager, says if you don't start early, you can be left out.
(Renae Korslien - NDSF Manager) "A good year we start making offers because it takes them that long. They don't always get back to us really fast because they are planning out their routes. We have to start planning ahead, especially with the big acts. And we will keep buying the big acts as long as people continue to come to them. I have one that has said yes, and I have two other offers out there so I am excited about them."
Korslien says the big name entertainers next year will once again play the weekends at the 2014 State Fair.
