Bismarck Cancer Center Using New Technology

World Class health care is now available in Bismarck.

The Bismarck Cancer Center now has two Agility Linear Accelerators.

The machines provide precisely focused treatment for cancer patients in order to reduce the risk of side effects.

Bismarck Cancer Center is a joint venture of Sanford Health and Saint Alexius.

Dr. John Watkins says not only are the new machines more precise, they are also much quicker.

"Allows us to do two things mainly, we can increase the dose, increase the cure rate while keeping the side effects as low as possible, so the rest of the body isn't exposed unnecessarily, where as in the past our treatments would have taken 15, maybe 30 minutes at a time, we can do it in as little as 90 seconds on some of these treatments, which is fantastic, we're able to serve more patients in a shorter time," Radiation Oncologist Dr. John Watkins said

The two machines are a $3 million investment for The Bismarck Cancer Center.
