Kiefer Pleads Guilty In Horse Abuse and Neglect Cases

The man accused in the death of over one hundred horses in Morton and Burleigh Counties pleads guilty to the crimes.

William Kiefer did not appear in court today, but his attorney, Charlie Stock entered the pleas for Kiefer.

Kiefer is charged with nine counts related to the abuse and neglect of animals on his property.

Attorneys discussed a non-binding agreement for Kiefer's sentence of 120 days of electronic monitoring and supervised probation for two years.

Judge Thomas Schneider will sentence Kiefer after a mental evaluation.

Stock says Kiefer's suffers from depression and other mental health issues.

The Judge may also forbid Kiefer from owning any livestock or animals while on probation.

No sentencing date has been set.
