Volunteers Ride in To Help

Posted: Updated:

Flood recovery efforts are still going strong thanks to one group who traveled across the country on bikes to help out.

Bike and Build is a non-profit organization based in Philadelphia that coordinates cross-county bike trips to raise money for housing projects.

This week, a group of young adults biked from New Hampshire to Minot, to help clear debris and paint at the Christ Lutheran church.

One volunteer says helping others is what motivates this group to make the long trek.

(Dean Rockwell, Bike &Build)"Different people have different motivations, but I think we're all linked by a passion for service and adventure. We love the idea of being able to help out across the United States--the affordable housing cause, which is really important to us."

The group stayed overnight at Zion Lutheran church and left early this morning for Powers Lake.

Their final destination is Vancouver, Canada.
