Kids Learn Skills at Duck Hunting Clinic

Posted: Updated:

It's just about time for duck hunting season...

and kids are getting the opportunity to learn how it's done.

Ducks Unlimited is hosting a youth waterfowl hunting clinic.

Children 16 and under learn how to identify ducks, how to hunt safely, and how to duck call among other activities.

These two kids are learning how to shoot and handle a gun safely.

It takes a lot of focus in order to hit their target, but when they finally do, it's an exciting accomplishment.

"You have to make sure that the excitement stays focused on the safety part of it. We make sure that, you know, they do continue to keep the safe gun position and everything but they're still excited. And that's the fun part about it," says Richard Nordgren, Volunteer Youth Instructor, Pheasants Forever.

Ducks Unlimited also has a youth hunting trailer.

It's fully equipped with all the gear a kid would need to go duck hunting.

To reserve the trailer, you can call the Ducks Unlimited office at 701-355-3500.
