Liberty Students Launch Into a New Year

Posted:

A new school launches off the school year in a new way.

This afternoon Liberty Elementary students and staff launched water rockets to kick off the first day of school.

Liberty students currently attend class at the Hughes building until their school is finished next fall.

In addition to launching rockets they also rang the liberty bell to symbolize the first day of school.

"I'm looking forward to starting every first day at Liberty Elementary with a rocket launch, the kids decorated those rockets, they signed their names on them, some classrooms might have talked about school goals for the year and we just blasted them off today," Liberty Principal Terry Kuester said.

"I think it's pretty amazing and they're cool and they're really fun to watch," Second grade student, Dawson said.

Kuester says since it's a brand new school she wanted to establish traditions the school celebrates every year.
