Summer is winding down and students are walking to class as school begins in the region.
Surrey school kicked off it's fall semester today.
Attendance has jumped about 40 students, bringing the total to 430 students.
Construction is underway on the school property to make room for the portable classrooms that will better accommodate the higher attendance.
Surrey Public Schools Superintendent Kevin Klassen says the school could see more students arrive after Labor Day.
The school staff is looking forward to the new school year.
(Kevin Klassen, Surrey Public School Superintendent)"It's exciting, but there are things when you're dealing with education that will always be stressful--just to be sure that we're giving them good, adequate education, but we're excited just for the year to start and to see all the new faces and some of the older faces we've built rapports with. So, it's exciting."
Other schools in the area also start this week.
Minot Public Schools will start next week on the 28th.
