BurliMOT Half-Marathon

BurliMOT Half-Marathon

Posted: Updated:

Saturday mornings during the lazy days of summer are the perfect time to sleep in and relax.. For most people.

But for hundreds of people in Minot today, it was far from a lazy day.

The second annual BurliMOT half marathon was held at 7:30 this morning with single runners, and relay groups competing for the gold.

Participants started out at Old Settlers Park in Burlington, and finished at Oak Park in Minot.

Most relay teams running were local, but the individual runners came from as far as Washington, Utah, and California.

The winner today was Kyle Sturdefant, and the winning relay team was, ironically, "The Snails."

One of the coordinators of the race says it not only gets people active, but brings Minot together for some healthy fun.

(Reece Vega, Race Coordinator) "Right here, in August, there's not a lot of races going on, there's not a lot going on in Minot. So it's really a perfect time for it. And the biggest thing is, it really helps the community. Not only the fitness community, but Minot itself, when we're bringing in all these runners and people from out of state."
