Storm Damage Near Glen Ullin

Posted: Updated:

Severe weather takes aim on a small area near Glen Ullin.

At the Schlatters' farm a couple miles north of Interstate-94, there's evidence of where some hailstones hit with a vengeance last night.

Torri Schlatter says the storm only lasted about 20 minutes.

She says the strong winds drove the hail from north to south right into their home.

"It started, the hail balls were about this big, and it was hitting against the windows until it started cracking and then shards of glass were coming into the living room and the pool got demolished, we have one of those air-tube ones, and the gardens are gone," says Torri Schlatter.

The hail put a dent in many gardens and fields in Morton County, as well as to the family's car and siding on the house.

Torri's son Garrett was in the garage when the storm hit.

He says some hail was as big as baseballs and describes what it sounded like.

"Some were like big firecrackers hitting the garage door and stuff." says Garrett Schlatter.
