The City of Mandan wins the vote for most patriotic small town in the country.
But the City is only halfway there. Voting counts for 50 percent. The other 50 comes from organizers pleading Mandan's case with a written submission, pictures and videos.
They say they want to focus on Mandan's exceptional record of military service, Fourth of July parade and heritage of patriotism. "We're looking for ideas from all of our community members. Give us what Mandan's patriotism means to you so we can incorporate everybody to help us win this contest," says Kristen Helmes.
If you want to participate, go to the Growing Up In Mandan Facebook page. To check out the Rand McNally contest results so far, go to bestoftheroad.com.
For the record, Mandan won 3,554 votes, with the city of Gallup, New Mexico, trailing by 108 votes. The next city -- Enterprise, Alabama -- was far behind with 249 votes.
