Bismarck School Bus Update

Posted:

It's been two weeks since school started back up again...

and Superintendent Tamara Uselman says each day the busing problems are improving but there are still issues that need to be addressed.

The congestion at schools such as Century and Bismarck High has been resolved by moving bus stops.

In Lincoln, new signage has been added to routes.

Some problems that still need to be worked out include a few middle school buses arriving 30 to 45 minutes after school lets out.

One of the districts goals is to create shorter wait and ride times for students.

"We're trying to tackle each problem day by day and what happens is is we make a change. It takes awhile to implement that change because what we have to do is we have to make sure it's going to work. We have to communicate with the parents, and then we would run the route a couple days after that just so that all of that can happen in a sequence that makes sense," says Darin Scherr, BPS Director of Facilities and Transportation.

Uselman thanks parents and students for being patient in this process while issues are being addressed.
