Soaring with the Blue Hawks Week 2

Posted: Updated:
Bismarck, ND -

Dickinson State football opened the season last Thursday in less than thrilling fashion.
Defensively they were sound only giving up 14 points.
The problem was a lack of offensive production-- something Head Coach Hank Biesiot says must change.

(HANK)"We talked baby steps before the first game. you know we gotta start walking."the young Bluehawk offense started at a crawl last week in their 14 to nothing loss against MSU Northern to open the season. The team produced 126 total yards of offense--80 yards of that coming on the ground.

(JACE SCHILLINGER) "You know week one was a tough game for us. Very physical, very physical game where they like to play the same style we do. You know we did some good things in our first game and than we did a lot of things that we need to work on."

The Quarterback situation is still unresolved at this point.
Sophomore Thad Lane and Freshman Kayler Ray were the only Quarterbacks to take snaps on Saturday for the Bluehawks.
Neither was able to capitalize on opportunities.

(Jace Schillinger/ QB/RB COACH)"We got inside the 10 twice and were actually inside their ten more than they were inside our twenty. We had those opportunities we gotta look back on and try to build from those."

(HANK) "When we get down in the scoring zone you gotta come away with something."
Overall it was a frustrating to see a goose-egg on the scoreboard as the final horn sounded.

(MYRON MOORE/ 11 Carries 36 Yards) "Especially as a running back and offensive guy very frustrating. Especially since the defense did so well. With the turnovers they caused the interception and the fumble to not capitalize on that in the redzone twice, it was very frustrating."

The second game of the season doesn't get any easier for DSU as they face Rocky Mountain College.

(HANK)"Hopefully we see an improvement here. It's going to be imperative that we do that because we're going up against a high scoring team. They maybe have as good of a quarterback as in the conference. We just gotta come young Bluehawk offense started at a crawl last week in their 14 to nothing loss against MSU Northern to open the season.

If the Bluehawks want to avoid getting in an early hole to start the season The defense will need to repeat it's performance from last week.
The Offense will have to take out their frustrations by putting big numbers up on the scoreboard.

Dickinson State is on the road at Rocky Mountain College out in Billings, Montana.
The game is on at 1 mountain, 2 central on Saturday.
