A multi-million dollar facility upgrade for Ward County that after numerous tries- finally got the blessing of voters in the county officially, broke ground today.
Many of the people who will call the new office building home were on hand for the ceremony this morning at the site where the project will take shape.
It is located right to the north of the current courthouse -- a space that is packed to capacity and then some.
Ward County voters gave the approval of a half cent sales tax to foot the bill for the project that will run about 15.3 million dollars.
Today, it was a celebratory mood...and appreciation to the voters who gave the green light to the project.
(Curt Zimbelman - Mayor of Minot) "I really want to congratulate all of the people who were hands on with this pushing and educating the public on the importance of a facility like this." (Dan Deaver - Citizen's Committee Member) "I would like to thank the residents of Ward County for voting for this project. They have been instrumental in the campaign and deserve appreciation for making this possible here today." (Jack Nybakken - Ward County Commissioner) "I know that our Ward County employees and the residents of Ward County will greatly appreciate this new facility."
The hope is to have the four story building completed and ready for occupancy by the spring of 2015.
