Disabilities Center Hosts Conference

What are the best ways to help people with disabilities get the most out of their lives?

That's a question professionals who deal with the disabled are always trying to answer and update.

This week, dozens of people who impact the lives of people with disabilities were getting the latest information on proven practices they can adopt to maximize and improve the happiness of others.

Minot State University's Center for Persons With Disabilities held a day-long conference on the issue.

Dr. David Lennox, a specialist in Applied Behavior Analysis, was the featured speaker.

The assistant director of NDCPD says the goal is to assist those who work with the disabled.

(Mary Mercer, ND Center for Persons With Disabilities) "To help people design supports that will help people be successful in their everyday lives. We have years - 30, 40 years of research - to back that up and we're always learning new things but we want our practices to be the most effective as possible."

The conference at MSU was the fourth presented around the state by the North Dakota Center for Persons with Disabilities.
