Youth Day Teaches Kids How to Hunt

Posted:

It was an exciting day out at Capital City Sporting Clays in Bismarck.

Kids got to learn, step by step, how to hunt.

Today is Pheasants Forever Youth Day.

Volunteers and staff bring a group of kids out and introduce them to the concept of pheasant hunting.

They learn about gun safety and go on an actual hunt with pointing dogs.

Not only is it a real life experience but it's also educational and taught in a safe and controlled environment.

"There's a natural predator instinct in each one of them and what we're doing here, is we're just allowing them to experience that, to make a connection with the natural world. And as hunters, we're interested in the promotion of the animals that we pursue and not the eradication," says Benjamin Sand, Pheasants Forever Youth Committee Chair.

The Pheasants Forever staff welcomes anyone who would like to volunteer with the event.

They hope to have even more youth days next year.
