An ax murderer serving a life sentence at the North Dakota State Pen has been charged with a new crime, attempted murder for an incident inside the prison.
Along with Attempted Murder, John Bridges is also charged with Possession of Contraband by an Inmate.
Both crimes are Class A felonies.
Court documents say Bridges stabbed Daryl Lawson, a corrections officer at the State Pen.
Bridges is also accused of making and possess a knife with the intent to assault Lawson.
The crime happened August 25th.
Bridges is serving a life sentence plus 20 years without parole for the kidnapping and ax murder of Lee Clay last year.
The psychologist who evaluated Bridges in that case described him as being the most psychotic and dangerous person he had ever evaluated.
No court date has been set for Bridges to appear on the new charges.
Bridges is currently being held in the Administrative Segregation portion of the Prison.
Secretary of State's Office is currently reviewing a petition for North Dakota schools to begin after Labor Day.
