Is someone stalking - or even trying to abduct children in North Dakota?
That's something some residents of Bottineau say they're concerned about - and the county sheriff says his
office has taken steps to warn schools to be careful about children being picked up and dropped off.
Sheriff Steve Watson says there haven't been any specific instances of abduction attempts, but he says it's still important for parents and others who are near schools and neighborhoods with kids to be watchful.
(Steve Watson, Bottineau County Sheriff) "Be observant out there - parents be observant - if they see something that doesn't seem right, contact us. Everybody knows our number and a lot of people have our individual cell numbers so, let us know what's out there and going on." (Because you don't want people to go up and challenge someone) "Yeah, let us do it because you never know, that guy could have a weapon on him."
Watson says it's best to be overly safe in an atmosphere where there are so many new people in the region.
