City Accepts Offer: New Occupant Coming to Northern Plains Commerce Centre

Posted: Updated:

Bismarck gets an offer -- and takes it.  As a result, the Northern Plains Commerce Centre will be getting a new occupant.

G & K Services, a uniform and professional linen services company, purchases nearly five acres for a little more than half a million dollars.  The City Commission says the initiative that created the Northern Plains Commerce Center in order to provide rail service and industrial land for the business community is paying off.

"By having land, making it available, it fosters new businesses to want to come into our community.  So they'll be building a facility there and it will mean jobs and then all the other ancillary things with economic development," says Mayor John Warford, Bismarck City Commission.

The City says one 30-acre parcel, as well as several smaller parcels, is all that's left out of the original 243 acres at Northern Plains Commerce Centre.  The G & K Services' project is not expected to get underway until 2014.
