A re-restoration project at Minot's Amtrak depot is now officially complete...
This depot was restored before the flood by a group in the region...but all that work was ruined after the Mouse River flood swamped the region two years ago.
Now though, thanks to grants from the state of North Dakota, and most recently the Minot Area Community Foundation, the building is back.
The final touches were the benches -- built to give an old time feel to the facility.
They have been installed this month, providing Minot with a unique depot to welcome guests to the region when they step off the train.
(Donna Bye - City of Minot Planner) "It is actually an impression that people may only get for about 20 minutes. They are traveling across the country and we want them to know about Minot. There is information here and they are able to walk around and stretch their legs and coming in and sitting down and feeling like this is a piece of history, even though it isn't 100 years old it still feels like this is what it was like."
The initial restoration project started about 14 years ago, in 1999.
